I didn't realize the importance of taking care of one's self, eating healthy and going to the hospital for physical check up until we lost her last March this year. It was tragic, sudden and one of the saddest moments of my life. You see, my mom and her sisters are very very close. I grew up seeing them together most of the time, telling jokes, eating snacks and playing card games. I've seen them fight several times, but because there's so much love, you'll see them playing "tong-its" again the next day.

Until this day, I still can't believe my Aunt T is gone. Most of us don't realize that cancer is preventable in many cases. You know, cancer is genetic. If you have a family history of cancer, such as breast cancer, taking extra precautions is vital. It does not actually mean you will develop a cancer too but most likely, you'll have a greater chance of developing it. Truth is, each one of us is a candidate of getting a cancer, whether we like it or not. So make sure you take extra extra care. Here are some simple tips to reduce your risk of developing many types of cancer, I hope this somehow enlightens you.

1. Avoid smoking, whether it be actual smoking or secondhand smoke. Smoking can increase your risk of getting many other cancers.

2. Avoid too much sun exposure. Use SPF lotion when going out between 10:00AM to 2:00PM.

3. Eat fruits and veggies that are rich in antioxidants to repair damaged cells.

4. Watch the meats you eat. Diet high in animal fat is not healthy. Avoid smoked foods, salted fish and meat, and pickled vegetables.

5. Limit your alcohol intake. It increases your risk factor for cancer.

6. Exercise!

7. Know your personal and family history of cancer.

8. Practice safe sex. Unsafe sex can result in the infection of the HPV virus, a known cause for cervical cancer and a risk factor for many other cancers.

9. Regular / Annual chek up. Be sure to keep up on screening tests like the Papsmear, mammograms, etc.

Stitches and Burns, Fra Lippo Lippi

People say that I'm a fool
Well I don't know
At least I found out
What it takes to be strong
I was dreaming all day long
A drifting cloud
With eyes wide open
I would choose not to see

Chorus
Now I don't want
To see you any more
Don't want to be the one
To play your game
Not even if you smile
Your sweetest smile
Not even if you beg me
Darling please.

Say good morning to the world
I hope you like it
Take good care of all those
Things that we had
I've been looking for a way
For too long now
Seems like everything
Must come to an end.

Repeat Chorus

Time after time
Nothing that I can do
Knowing your ways and loving your ways
But not getting through at all
Day after day
Leaving the past behind
Coming to terms with stitches and burns learning to fly again

************

Loving the music of 80's!

The Importance of Eating Breakfast

This is my hearty (and cheap) breakfast earlier today. Pan de Sal, fried egg and lucky me pancit canton. Enough to keep me going for a whole day.

Do you skip breakfast too?

I do. Breakfast may be the meal that is most often neglected or skipped, but it is actually the most beneficial. It aids in weight management and provide enough energy to fuel your body. It is important that you break the fast of not eating 12 hours straight, otherwise, it'll be hard for you to concentrate, focus and function throughout the day. I'm not an oatmemal person, hate it. Might try cereals and milk for breakfast tomorrow. Wish me luck!

MAMMA MIA: The Winner Takes It All

The Winner Takes It All
Artist: Meryl Streep
Mamma Mia OST

DONNA:
I don't wanna talk
About things we've gone through
Though it's hurting me
Now it's history
I've played all my cards
And that's what you've done too
Nothing more to say
No more ace to play

The winner takes it all
The loser standing small
Beside the victory
That's her destiny

I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence
Building me a home
Thinking I'd be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules

The gods may throw a dice
Their minds as cold as ice
And someone way down here
Loses someone dear

The winner takes it all
The loser has to fall
It's simple and it's plain
Why should I complain?

But tell me does she kiss
Like I used to kiss you?
Does it feel the same
When she calls your name?
Somewhere deep inside
You must know I miss you
But what can I say?
Rules must be obeyed

The judges will decide
The likes of me abide
Spectators of the show
Always staying low
The game is on again
A lover or a friend
A big thing or a small
The winner takes it all

I don't wanna talk
'Cause it makes me feel sad
And I understand
You've come to shake my hand
I apologize
If it makes you feel bad
Seeing me so tense
No self-confidence
But you see

The winner takes it all
The winner takes it all

The game is on agein
A lover or a friend
A big thing or a small
The winner takes it all
The winner takes it all

*******
MAMMA MIA

Meryl Streep plays Donna, an ex-hippie and single mom raising her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) on a Greek island. When Sophie was about to get married, she invited her mom's ex-lovers (Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard) - one of them could be her father.

Streep is amazing. Superb acting. She obviously had so much fun on this movie. I like the part when she was reunited with her 2 best friends. They're fun to watch. My friends and I share that kind of friendship. And that "Dancing Queen," scene was brilliant. Makes you wanna dance. Another favorite scene was her heartwarming solo "The Winner Takes It All". Very natural acting, one of Streep's greatest performance, I think.

I love the movie. Added it to my favorites already. I missed watching it on the big screen, sayang!

My father owns an ABBA cassette tape and I grew up listening to it. Love love love it. Timeless songs. I know almost all their songs by heart.

Great music, great cast, nice location and beautiful cinematography - all these makes MAMMA MIA movie worth seeing.

Enjoy!

The World Has Spoken: Barrack Obama, 44th President of the United States

The world watched as history unfold. Democrat Barack Obama wins the election! He's now elected as the 44th president of the United States, opening a new chapter in the world history as the first African-American politician to be elected as the President of the world's most powerful country.

My congratulations to Obama!!! I support him all the way. I like the guy. Though he has strong views about anti-outsourcing of US jobs overseas, a cause of concern for all call center cuties like moi, I think he'll do good.

"....Unlike John McCain, I will stop giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas, and I will start giving them to companies that create good jobs right here in America," he has said.

Ohh Eeemm Geee!!! My career is now at risk LOL. I better be looking for a job elsewhere, in the US perhaps. With all my heart, I strongly believe that he will have an administration that will defend the oppressed, will fight for the defenseless, who'll achieve a just and fair system with good governance, and will stop doing things whose wisdom we question. I hope, with Obama's reign, the war ends soon.

"Change has come to America," the President-elect promised. Lala is a half Filipino, half Indonesian singer/composer and Warner Music Philippines' newest artist. She's the sweet voice behind the song What About You. I'm not really a fan of her, I'm doing this in support of my good friend slash kababayan slash ex-crush hahaha LON (that drummer guy in the background). But I super like this song...

Before having a band, LALA did some acting for some soaps and telenovelas back in Indonesia. May star quality ang LOLA. No doubt, she is cutee, talented and sexy plus she's got her own style. She looks mataray noh? I've seen her perform several times...and just last night...my friend who happened to work for blah blah blah...was blah blah blah i will not tell you all the juicy info LOL

Could she be the next hottest femme fatale in the music scene? I don't know. One thing though, she must watch her character, for it becomes her destiny.

But hope you like the song. That's for you wherever you are :)

The Long and Winding Road - Beatles Original

The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
Ive seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door

The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way

Many times Ive been alone
And many times Ive cried
Any way youll never know
The many ways Ive tried

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Dont leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Dont leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It

Wow. This just explains everything. Couldn't agree more. Got this article from a college buddy, who is a geek herself. Hahaha

http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/66795671.html

In the wide world of dating, there are many options. Do you go for the flashy guy with the smooth smile, or the dude in the corner typing away on his laptop? The following are reasons why I think my fellow females should pay more attention to the quiet geeks and nerds, and less attention to the flashy boys.

1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, they’re well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the spider hands? Wonder what HIS intentions are... plus, I’ve never had a geek guy not call me when he said he would. Score major points THERE.

2.) They’re useful. In this tech-savvy world, it’s great to have a b/f who can make your laptop, desktop, and just about anything else that plugs into a wall behave itself.

3.) They’re more romantic than they’re given credit for. Ok true, their idea of romance might be to make up a spiffy web-page with all the reasons why they love you, with links to pics of you and sonnets and such... but hey. It lasts longer than flowers, plus you can show your friends.

4.) Due to their neglected status, there are plenty to choose from. You like ‘em tall and slender? There are plenty of geeks/nerds who are. You like ‘em smaller with more meat on their bones? Got that too.

5.) They’ve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?

6.) Most are quite good at remembering dates. Like birthdates and such, especially if they know it’ll make you happy. Due again to their neglected status, they’re more attentive than guys who “have more options”. Plus, with all that down time without a steady girlfriend, they’ll likely have mental lists of all the things they’d love to do once they GOT a girlfriend.

7.) Sex. Yep. Sex. I’m not really familiar with this myself, but I’ve friends who’ve been intimate with geek guys and it’s raves all around. They say a virgin wrote the Kama Sutra... all that time thinking about sex, imagining sex, dreaming about sex, (they are male after all) coupled with a desire to make you happy? Use your imagination.

8.) They’re relatively low-maintenance. Most can be fueled on pizza, Twinkies and Mt Dew. No complicated dinners needed here, so if you’re not the best cook, eh. Can you order a pizza?

9.) Most frequent bars as often as slugs frequent salt mines. You won’t have to worry much about your geek guy getting his “groove” on with club hotties because, frankly, he’ll be too busy rooting around under his computer wondering where that spare cable went. You won’t have to worry about him flirting with other women because, 9 out of 10 times, he’ll zip right by them in a perfect b-line towards the nearest electronics store. I’ve seen this happen.
Me: “Eww. Victoria Secret’s Models... They’re so skinny. How is that feminine? You can see her ribs!”
Geek Guy: “ooooooo...”
Me: “Hey!” *notices he is staring lustfully towards the computer store*
Geek Guy: “What?”
Me: “Never mind...”

10.) Although he may not want to go to every outing with you, you can arrange swaps, as in, you’ll go to his Gamer Con dressed as an elf princess if he’ll take you to the ballet. Plus, if he doesn’t want to go someplace with you, you won’t have to worry much about what he’s up to. You’ll probably come home to find him asleep on his keyboard in a sea of Mt. Dew cans with code blinking from the screen. It’s ok. He’s used to this. Just toss a blanket over him and turn out the light.

11.) His friends aren’t jerks. I can’t stress this enough. You’ll more likely get “Omg! A GIRL!! Can I see?!” than “Hey hot stuff back that ass up here and let me get some grub on...” They’re awkward geeks too and will, 9 times out of 10, treat you with the utmost respect and, more than likely, a note of awe. A cute girl picked one of their clan to date? It could happen to them! Hope! Drag some of your single girlfriends over, open up a pack of Mt. Dew, crack open the DnD set and get working. Nothing impresses geek guys more than a girl who can hack-n-slash (well ok maybe if she can code... a geek can dream).

12.) They’re rarely if ever possessive. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He won’t care. He does too! They won’t get pissy if you don’t wear make-up or don’t want to bother primping your hair. If you gain a few pounds, they won’t try their best to make you feel like crap.

13.) They’re usually very well educated. Physics majors and the like. See #5. You won’t have to listen to him blathering on about his car (ok maybe a little), he’ll have loads of other interesting things to talk about. Politics, world events, how much the chicken burgers down at the local place rock, so long as you douse them in hot sauce...

14.) You’ll almost never have to hear, “Yaw dawg whazzap!!” plop out of their mouths. Unless it’s in jest. They spell properly, use correct punctuation, and are able to tell the difference between the toilet and the floor. They almost never get “wasted”, so you won’t have to worry about coming home to find him and his friends passed out on the floor amidst a pile of beer bottles. Mt. Dew cans, perhaps...

15.) And the final reason why geeks and nerds make great boyfriends: They actually give a damn about you. Not how you look (though that’s a plus), not how skinny you are, not how much make-up you primp yourself up with, but they like you for you. That kind of thing lasts longer than “DaMN baby you got a fine ass!!!” Believe me.

The Christmas Shoes

The Christmas Shoes - 3 Of Hearts

by Bob Carlisle

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin’ to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing ’round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn’t believe what I heard him say

[Chorus:]
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there’s not much time
You see she’s been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, “Son, there’s not enough here”
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I’ve got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I’ll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama’s gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there’s not much time
You see she’s been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

[Bridge:]
I knew I’d caught a glimpse of heaven’s love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about.

Is there anything that's really bothering you today?

Something really weird happened the last few days. DO you also get that feeling....when you've been trying hard to look for the answers, spending hours to solve the puzzle each day, searching the world upside down and almost giving up...when all along, the answers are right in front of you. It's disappointing. Maybe, I'm just refusing to accept what's obvious. DOes it hurt? It does. Big time. But I'll get through it..you'll see.

And oh, I like being alone these days....it helps me think.

Will go to the gym this morning. Contrary to what you're thinking, I am not the type of person who loves texting...who engage into text-chatting and all sorts of text chorvaloo. Yes, I do have a cellphone and I keep it with me all the time but that's because of its built-in camera feature, alarm clock and calculator, other than that, I don't use my cellphone for lame reasons.

Fact is, I don't even turn on my phone during rest days as i hate getting text messages. I fear that I might get a bad news one day...and you know how I hate bad news.

I wasn't like this before...i just started early this year, when all of a sudden, I got a text from my cousin telling me the passing of my aunt and you cou can imagine how scared I was after that. I cried, I was shaking the whole time and I just can't focus with my work. We've been praying for a miracle but it never came to us.

That text is still in my phone up to this day. Finally. The opening songs were “Alapaap” and “Ligaya,” complete with fireworks display. Taray di ba!!! But it was cut short when lead singer Ely Buendia was rushed to the Makati Medical Center after collapsing backstage. The band had already played 15 songs by then. Ok na din yun.

The concert’s sudden end was announced by Buendia’s sister Lally who went onstage with Ely’s band mates Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and concert organizers stating that the band’s lead vocalist and songwriter was in poor health. The band members apologized to the audience for cutting short their performance.

“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),”
said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra

Ely Buendia suffered a heart attack on January 7, 2007 and had already undergone surgery.

Will there be a part 2? I hope so.

The Eraserheads Reunion Concert August 30, 2008

First, everyone was excited about the rumor: Eraserheads Reunion. Finally!

And then weeks later, rumor was that the Eraserheads Reunion was canceled. Due to pressures from the anti-smoking campaign led by the Department of Health, the organizer Philip Morris backed out from producing the show. For all Eraserheads fans out there, just like moi, this was an ultimate letdown.

But it's now pushing through!!! This time with a different producer. Eheads drummer Raymund Marasigan himself made the announcement: The Eraserheads are "most definitely" pushing through with the reunion show. On schedule. At the right venue. On 08.30.2008 at the Fort Bonifacio open field.

    From: raymund marasigan
date: Sun, Aug 24, 2008 at 8:37 PM
subject: [subsandwich] eraserheads aug 30 08 confirmed

dear everybody

after much ado. the eraserheads concert is most definitely pushing through.

philip morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. but another company is taking over the production. the turn over started
yesterday and they have already started work on the site in the fort. so you can check.

there are good news and bad news.

unfortunately it's no longer free. all the long winded registration procedures in the red nation site is now void.

the good news is that the age limit is now 12 years old (for safety reasons) and tickets will be sold so you don't have to wait for confirmation and what not.

the official announcement and ticketing details will come out in major newspapers and on the radio on tuesday.

these are the only details i know for now so no need to email me. i'm just the drummer.

btw. i just got home from the last rehearsal. the band is cooking. we will see you all on the 30th.

raym<s>
</s>
<s>
</s>

7 Don'ts After Meal

1. Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

2. Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

3. Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

4. Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

5. Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

7. Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

Ground Pork in Oyster Sauce with Baguio Beans and Eggplant

I cooked a delicious dinner today. The reasons of me loving him before, has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.

I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings. I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy. My husband is my complete opposite; his lack of sensitivity, and the inability of bringing romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about LOVE.

One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.

"Why?" he asked, shocked.

"I am tired. There are no reasons for everything in the world!" I answered.

He kept silent the whole night, seemingly in deep thought. My feeling of disappointment only increased. Here was a man who was not able to even express his predicament, so what else could I expect from him?

And finally he asked me: "What can I do to change your mind?"

Somebody said it right... It's hard to change a person's personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him.

Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered: "Here is the question. If you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind.

Let's say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death. Will you do it for me?"

He said: "I will give you your answer tomorrow...." My hopes just sank by listening to his response.

I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes....

My dear, "I would not pick that flower for you, but....please allow me to explain the reasons further.....

This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.

"When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen. I have to save my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs.

You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you.

You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city. I have to save my eyes to show you the way.

You always have the cramps whenever your "good friend" approaches every month. I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.
You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom.

You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes. I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand...and tell you the colour of flowers, just like the colour of the glow on your young face...

Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do... I could not pick that flower yet, and die ... "

My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting... and as I continue on reading... "Now, that you have finished reading my answer, and if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favorite bread and fresh milk...

I rushed to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of bread....Now I am very sure that no one will ever love me as much as he does, and I have decided to leave the flower alone...

That's LIFE, and LOVE. When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.

Love shows up in all forms; even in very small and cheeky forms. It has never been a model. It could be the dullest and most boring form ...

Flowers, and romantic moments are only used and appear on the surface of the relationship. And the remaining hours are spent on computer doing reports and monitoring, blogging and surfing the net! I seriously need to wear glasses now!

That's the one I want. I think it'll look good on me, what do you think? At zennioptical.com, you'll find stylish Prescription Glasses for as low as $8. Wow, that's really cheap for a pair of glasses! They offer huge selection of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic) lens, tinted suglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens.

Check out Zenni’s affordable frames and glasses now and place your order on their website. You wont find any other deal better than what they offer.

Life's Complicated Equations
